Pyongyang, October 11 (KCNA) -- At the foot of Mt Taebak in Kangdong County of Pyongyang, there is the Mausoleum of King Tangun, the founder of the Korean nation.
The mausoleum is a precious cultural treasure as it fully reflects the developed culture and the political, economic and military might of Ancient Korea in terms of history, based on the traditional tomb style of the nation.
It was reconstructed magnificently to suit the spirit of Tangun's Korea, a powerful country in the East, on October 11, Juche 83 (1994).
The mausoleum, successfully reconstructed as an eternal treasure of the Korean nation, is associated with the undying leadership exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il .
The President gave historians several precious instructions to intensify the study of Tangun. He was very pleased with the discovery of the Mausoleum of King Tangun, the ancestral father of the Korean nation, and his remains and relics in the county of Kangdong in early 1993, and saw to it that the mausoleum was rebuilt into the great one in Pyongyang, as befits the tomb of the founding-father.
On September 27 that year, he visited Kangdong County and personally chose the site for the mausoleum and unfolded a blueprint to build it as befits the mausoleum of the founder.
On July 6, 1994, the last period of his great life, he was busy guiding a consultative meeting of senior officials in the economic field, but he examined the final miniature of the mausoleum.
The Chairman made sure that it was correctly proved that Tangun was a real man through modern science and technology, and took measures to preferentially supply everything needed for the reconstruction of the mausoleum.
On October 29, 1994, he looked round the rebuilt mausoleum and said that it should be perfect as it is a historic national treasure to be handed down to posterity and set forth tasks for preserving and managing it.
The mausoleum shows the exploits of Kim Il Sung and
Kim Jong Il who glorified the ancestral father of the Korean nation and the history of the nation spanning 5 000 years, and adds to the pride and self-esteem of the Korean nation. -0-
