Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, on October 17 inspected the headquarters of the 2nd Corps of the Korean People's Army.

Accompanying him were Pak Jong Chon, secretary of the WPK Central Committee and vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, and No Kwang Chol, minister of National Defence of the DPRK.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was greeted on the spot by Ri Yong Gil, chief of the KPA General Staff, and the commander and other commanding officers of the large combined unit.

The moment he arrived at the headquarters, all the officers and men raised stormy cheers of "Hurrah!", looking up to the great iron-willed commander who ushered in a great period of upswing in developing the revolutionary armed forces with his outstanding military strategy and idea and rare commanding art and is strengthening our army into an ever-victorious and invincible revolutionary army.

He sent warm greetings of encouragement to the officers and men of the large combined unit that have reliably defended the territory of our state, always maintaining full combat readiness on high alert at the forefront near the border.

There was a ceremony of receiving the Supreme Commander of the DPRK armed forces.

Together with accompanying officials, he looked round the room dedicated to the unit's history shining with the great feats of defending the country and the people.

He recalled with deep emotion the undying commanding feats of our Party recorded in the sacred, praiseworthy and glorious course of the development of the unit.

Noting that the unit, organized during the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War, produced more than 100 heroes of the DPRK, including a twice hero of the DPRK, by displaying matchless bravery during the battles behind the enemy lines and the active positional defence, and has displayed its honour as the first a-match-for-a-hundred unit from one century to the next one, he said its history is the praiseworthy epitome of the brilliant military achievements and many feats of the People's Army which is reliably supporting the great cause of building a rich country with a strong army with arms.

Saying that a sure guarantee for the victory in combat and war lies in ideologically and morally overpowering the enemy, he stressed that when the unshakable Juche-oriented viewpoint and stand on the enemy and war is established and maintained, our army will always demonstrate its might as the most invincible one in the world.

Guided by the commander of the corps, he visited its commanding post.

After being briefed on the enemy situation by the commander, he acquainted himself with the combat readiness of the brigades under the corps, which are ready for action.

After meeting the major commanding officers of the corps, he examined important documents reflecting the large combined unit's military action plans for coping with different developments of situation.

The serious security circumstances we are faced urgently urge our army to continue concentrating all efforts on bolstering up the war-fighting capability, and to take more perfect military steps for reliably defending the security of the country through the permanent overwhelming combat readiness, he said.

The impact of the changed nature of the ROK-U.S. alliance and the more developed different enemy military maneuvers of aggressive nature on the DPRK's security more clearly highlights the importance of strengthening its nuclear deterrent and proves its validity, he stressed.

After examining several documents, he said that the corps worked out proper military action plans to cope with possible different circumstances. And then he approved the determination of the corps.

He stressed that our army should keep in mind once again the stark fact that the ROK is a foreign country and an apparent hostile country. Recalling that we completely blocked the roads and railways to the territory of the ROK two days ago through blasting, he said that it means not only the physical closure but also the end of the evil relationship with Seoul which persistently lasted century after century and the complete removal of the useless awareness about fellow countrymen and unreasonable idea of reunification. And he added that it also means the last declaration that when the DPRK's sovereignty is violated by the ROK, a hostile country, its physical forces will be used unhesitatingly, without sticking to conditions any longer. As we have already declared, if our offensive forces are used in the precondition of "if", it constitutes legitimate retaliatory action against the hostile country, not the fellow countrymen, he said.

Only the peace defended with the powerful strength capable of controlling the enemy is the reliable, safe, lasting one, and herein lies a sure guarantee for the well-being and future of our state and people, he said, reaffirming that our army must be more powerful and is sure to be strong for this genuine peace.

That day, he had a photo session with the officers and men of the headquarters.

When he appeared in the venue for the photo session, the officers and men broke into enthusiastic cheers with great gratitude to the invincible and iron-willed commander who gave them invincible stratagem and matchless bravery and confidence and is leading our army to victory only.

Kim Jong Un expressed the expectation and belief that all the officers and men of the large combined unit would always remain true to their mission and duty as honorable defenders and soldiers on an outpost duty protecting the sovereignty of the country and the well-being of the people and reliably defend the southern border of the country.

The chanting of the slogan "Death-defying defence" by the soldiers looking up to him resounded far and wide in the sky of October.

All the officers and men pledged to defend at the cost of their lives the great Comrade Kim Jong Un , our great country, our great Party and our great people. And they were full of militant zeal for decorating their glorious colors shining with its praiseworthy history with ever-victorious feats only. -0-
