Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- The grand nature of the area of Mt Paektu with natural forests is our precious resource to be proud of.
The Paektusan Geology Park has many geological spots of special volcanic geological significance and great tourist value and the park zone coincides with the administrative district of Samjiyon City, Ryanggang Province.
The park which was formed by volcanic action draws a worldwide attention for its peculiar ecological, historical and cultural value.
Mt Paektu, a large-scale complex volcano, is a world volcano that had evolved for a long time.
The Paektusan volcano has the characteristics of a world volcano in various aspects including the stage and scale of eruption, the course of normal evolution and the insertion of special eruption cases, the formation of huge craters, the intensity of explosive eruption and the influence on the earth climate.
A huge volcanic cone with Janggun Peak, the highest one of Mt Paektu, as its main peak, its geological variety, formation of the Lake of Samjiyon Mubangsu, underground water falls of Rimyongsu, Namphotaesan Volcano and other grand volcanic sights can be called the original geological characteristics of Mt Paektu.
The Paektusan Geology Park is the pride of the DPRK as it has dozens of geological spots of great significance including Kanbaeksan Volcano, Sobaeksan Fantastic Rock, Pegae Hill Small Volcanic Cone and Paektu Falls. -0-
