Pyongyang, November 2 (KCNA) -- A tablet to honor President Kim Il Sung 's first official visit to the Soviet Union was displayed at Yaroslavl Railway Station, Moscow City of Russia.

Inscribed on the tablet are the Russian and Korean letters reading "Comrade Kim Il Sung , premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, arrived at the Yaroslavl Railway Station of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on March 3, 1949".

An unveiling ceremony of the tablet took place on the spot on Nov. 1.

Prior to it, a floral basket was laid at the tablet.

Present there were Choe Son Hui, foreign minister of the DPRK, and Sergei Lavrov, foreign minister of the Russian Federation.

Also on hand were Russian personages of various circles, including the Federation Council of Russia, the State Duma, the Ministry of Natural Resources Ecology, the Railway Co. Ltd., and the DPRK ambassador to Russia and his embassy officials.

After a briefing on the tablet, it was unveiled amid the playing of celebration music.

Speeches were made at the ceremony.

Sergei Lavrov said that the significant event helped recall the days when the two countries established the relations of mutual cooperation, intimate friendship and close practical partnership, adding that Comrade Kim Il Sung 's visit to the Soviet Union was one of the most important landmarks at that time.

He said that the improvement of cooperative relations between Russia and the DPRK are further accelerating at a new high level in all fields under the guidance of President of the State Affairs Kim Jong Un and President Vladimir Putin.

Noting that President Putin's visit to the DPRK after the Vostochny summit was a great historic event, he said that the treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and the DPRK has already entered the phase of practical implementation in the interests of the peoples of the two countries.

Choe Son Hui said in her speech that she was pleased to attend the unveiling ceremony of the tablet marking the first official visit to the Soviet Union by the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung who performed immortal exploits for the development of the DPRK-Russia relations.

She said thanks to the warm and close comradely relations between Kim Jong Un , president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation, and under their strategic guidance, the strategic value and significance of the DPRK-Russia relations are given greater importance in the severe international political landscape.

She expressed belief that the Russian army and people, who have courageously turned out in the just struggle for establishing a new international order, would achieve a victory without fail under the wise leadership of President Putin, and the great friendship and unity of the peoples of the two countries, who have built the forward-looking inter-state ties and struggled shoulder to shoulder to attain the common objective, would be firmly carried forward and developed along with the new era of overall efflorescence. -0-
