The national exhibition of processed marine products-2024 is going on at the Pyongyang Underground Store from November 1 under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Fisheries.
On display there are over 200 kinds of products produced by more than 110 units across the country, including the Sinpho Deep-sea Fishing Complex, Kalma Foodstuff Factory and Kumsanpho Fish Pickling Factory, and data on dozens of scientific research achievements.
Various kinds of products produced by the Hungnam Taesong General Fishery Enterprise, the Sinpho Fish Cannery, the Sinpho City Foodstuff Factory and many other units have made the exhibition conspicuous and delighted visitors.
The Kalma Foodstuff Factory, a model of marine products processing base which had been inspected by General Secretary Kim Jong Un, exhibits over 20 kinds of products including dried walleye pollack, salted pollack roes, salted squids and slices of squid flesh.
Eye-catchers are such instant foods as boiled rice and walleye pollack milt soup, rice boiled with clam and rice boiled with codfish roes.
An Sol Hyang, staffer of the factory, said the boiled rice and walleye pollack milt soup contains instant rice, dried milt, seasonings and spice and can be eaten soon after pouring hot water over it. Those who have tried it come to buy it again, saying it tastes good, and it is especially popular with housewives, the staffer added.
Visitors purchase pickled fish most.
Every participating unit exhibits a variety of pickled products. A crowd-puller is the booth of the Kumsanpho Fish Pickling Factory. The factory turns out pickled fish, clam and so on distinctively with various kinds of fishes from the West Sea of Korea and it has displayed various pickled products such as salted anchovies, Pacific sand launces and pepper-hot tiny shrimps in the exhibition.
Processed goods made of marine products from offshore farms in different parts of the country are also popular.
The Pyongyang Taesong Laver Processing Factory exhibits over 30 kinds of products made of laver and tangle produced at the offshore farms in the West Sea of Korea. Among them, roasted laver of high nutritional value, Pacific sand launce powder and so on are in great demand.
Kim Kwang Bok, section chief of the Ministry of Fisheries, said that the exhibition is aimed at exchanging and sharing sci-tech achievements and experience in the production of a lot of processed marine products across the country, increasing their varieties and improving their quality.
According to the participants, they have come to know well through the exhibition which products people favour and demand and they are determined to present more diverse and tastier products in the next exhibition.
