The Renewable Energy and Electric Power Technology Company under the Ministry of Electric Power Industry has built solar power stations with a total capacity of well over 1 000kW in different parts of the country so far since last year.
It put great efforts into creating the solar power generating capacity in urban and rural areas in order to ease the electricity shortage.
It built solar power stations of different capacities on the roofs of institutions and enterprises in different districts, including Taedonggang District in Pyongyang, by solving scientific and technological problems arising in effectively using the roofs of buildings for the development of solar power generating capacity, and introduced a system-parallel power generating system to effectively use the produced electricity in the national electric power network.
In particular, it built a distributed solar power station with a capacity of hundreds of kilowatts that goes well with the surrounding landscape at the Samgwang Livestock Farm under the North Phyongan Provincial Rural Economy Committee between October last year and May this year to supply the farm with electricity necessary for its management.
