Japan's Bolstering of "Counterattack Capability" Imperils Its Existence: KCNA Commentary

Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are getting ever more undisguised in pursuing the wild ambition for preemptive attack, seriously disturbing regional peace and security.
The chief executive of Japan, inspecting the "Self-Defense Forces" recently, said that he would steadily carry out the bolstering of defense capabilities based on the "counterattack capability" (capability of attack on enemy bases).
The "counterattack capability" he claimed is the military capability for mounting a strike outside the attack range of rival. It is just a vivid manifestation of the scheme for a dangerous preemptive attack on other countries.
Now that the regional situation is being exacerbated due to the aggressive war drills of the U.S., Japan and the ROK against the DPRK, he unhesitatingly called for "steady bolstering" of the "capability for attack on the enemy base" right after his inauguration as prime minister. This can not be overlooked as it is another example showing that Japan's wild ambition for reinvasion and war has reached the extremes.
Japan has built up the public opinion through the absurd law interpretation since the mid-1950s that the possession of the "capability for attack on enemy base" conditionally comes within the range of self-defence, and worked covertly for its realization. It legalized the possession of "capability for attack on enemy base" with an expression "counterattack capability," a cunning trick to blur the eyes of the international community, in its three security-related documents, including the newly revised "national security strategy" in December 2022.
The 2024 defense white paper, published by Japan in July this year, said that it is the way for possessing the "attack capability on enemy base" to develop the hypersonic long-range missile capabilities.
To this end, the Ministry of Defense of Japan recently went busy making a contract worth a fabulous amount of money with Mitsubishi Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. over glide phase interceptor (GPI) for shooting down hypersonic weapons under joint development with the U.S.
Under the signboard of "interception," Japan openly says that development of new type offensive weapons better than hypersonic weapons developed so far is to cope with the "threats from neighboring countries", thus specifying the targets of its preemptive attack.
Japan's hare-brained idea to ensure the security of Japan proper through “preemptive strike” will only make the archipelago a common target of neighboring countries.
Japan should be mindful that its bolstering of "counterattack capability" will lead to a complete loss of the chance of its "survival". -0-
