Covering an area of more than 100 000 square metres, the Mansudae Art Studio with some ten production units is widely known at home and abroad as a comprehensive fine art studio.

Over the past 65 years, it has left an indelible mark in the history of the development of fine art in the country along with the Chollima Statue symbolizing the heroic spirit and era of miracles of the Korean people, and created many works which serve as the precious cultural assets of the country to enrich the treasure house of Juche fine art.

Typical examples include grand monumental edifices. It is no exaggeration that they are the masterpieces of the times created by the Mansudae Art Studio.

The studio created and completed many structures including the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum and the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery as monumental masterpieces of the times in the 2010s.

It improves all kinds and forms of fine art with the main emphasis put on Korean painting peculiar to the Korean nation, which boasts a time-honoured history and tradition.

Korean painting "The Evening Glow over Kangson" created by artists of the studio is a masterpiece known to the whole country and many Korean paintings including "Wave of Sea Kumgang" became national treasures.

Korean jewel painting is a new genre of painting preserving the soft and elegant features of Korean painting and it is winning growing popularity at home and abroad.

In particular, "Pigeon Dance", "Snow Is Falling" and "Wisteria Flowers and a Puppy" are well known for their beautiful and delicate representation evoking unique emotions.

The artists of the studio taking it as an important criterion in the creation of works to reflect the people’s aspirations and emotions in depth develop oil painting to meet the aesthetic tastes of the Korean people. The oil painting production unit, which created oil painting “Fruitful Autumn” as a monumental masterpiece of the times, received thanks from the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un on two occasions in 2018 alone.

Many mural paintings of the Pyongyang Metro, also called "underground Pyongyang" and an art museum, are associated with the talents of the creators of the art studio.

Though the waiting time for a metro car is short, the murals impress visitors deeply for their profound theme and nice representation of stations.

In addition, the studio created many masterpieces of the times of national value for all other genres and forms of fine art, including sculpture, embroidery, ceramic work, handicraft, water-paint print, calligraphy and architectural decorative art, while giving a strong impetus to their development.

In 2011, a sand picture studio was organized at the art studio.

Music and sand pictures, which occupy a definite position in various art performances, are admired by the audience for the quick and fluid hand     movements and famous paintings drawn in a moment.

The art studio took an active part in art exhibitions and shows held in different countries and the works presented to them were highly appreciated.

Today, there are excellent structures and works which are associated with the wisdom and talents of creative workers of the Mansudae Art Studio in many countries of the world.

The Mansudae Art Studio marked its 65th anniversary on November 17.
