The Central Committee of the Architects Union of Korea encourages the designers to positively share and transfer their experiences gained in the course of preserving the Juche character and national character and ensuring convenience, aesthetic beauty and practicality in designing through the May 21 architectural festival and different presentations.
The Pyongyang University of Architecture put the park and garden design on a highly scientific basis with main stress on ensuring harmonious proportion and colours of trees, and conceived and completed a new design of protection dam which is of high ecological and scenic effect and convenient to build and saves manpower much more than before.
The Land Planning Institute under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection contributed to the rational use of land resources and the optimization of industrial structure by establishing an innovative methodology on city layout planning. The Hydraulic Engineering Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences, the Pyongyang City Designing Institute and the Academy of Forest Science also make an active contribution to ushering in a great heyday of construction with research findings.
