The State Academy of Sciences has made many successes in carrying out the major research tasks arising in practice true to the decisions of the 9th and 10th plenary meetings of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

It, under the guidance of the Party organization, carried on the work all the year round for arousing officials and scientists to implementation of decisions of the plenary meetings.

Thanks to the powerful political work and scientific operation and guidance, it has made weighty research successes of practical significance in reinforcing the country’s economic infrastructure, attaining the 12 major goals and realizing the readjustment and reinforcement strategy of the Party.

Its officials and scientists, with their painstaking efforts, developed a new coal gasification technology of our own style based on anthracite and lignite.

The development of technology is a significant success that provides another scientific and technological guarantee capable of developing key industries including the metal and chemical industries in Juche-oriented and independent way.

A remarkable progress has also been made in the development of new technology for producing compound potassic fertilizer and various basic chemicals by comprehensively treating the potassic feldspar rich in our country.

They introduced a comprehensive analysis system of characteristics of high value into oxygen heat blast furnace and thus made a positive contribution to the production of electricity and pig iron.

Recently, the State Academy of Sciences successfully solved many sci-tech problems urgently arising in practice this year, while establishing a new technology for producing steel with new raw materials, thus making it possible to open a prospect in solving the structural steel problem which is badly needed in implementing the Party’s local development policy. In addition, it has also made a clear contribution to the research into the core basic technical realms.

Besides, it successfully settled the scientific and technical problems arising in the construction and modernization of various projects including the Kangdong Greenhouse Complex thus bringing great pleasure to the Party on several occasions.

Now the State Academy of Sciences is now making steady efforts to develop the country’s economic infrastructure and thoroughly implement the Party’s Regional Development 20×10 Policy while consolidating the successes achieved.
