A fleet transporting cement to the mountain counties in North Phyongan and Jagang provinces near Lake Suphung was formed amid the vigorous regional development revolution and rural construction revolution now under way in all parts of the country according to the grand blueprint of the Workers' Party of Korea.
In hearty response to the noble intention of the Party Central Committee for providing the regional people with civilized and abundant living conditions and environment as early as possible, the workers of the Sinuiju Shipbuilding Factory and the Suphung Marine Transport Company have built cargo ships for cement transport and an excavating ship with their own efforts and technology, laying another solid material foundation for powerfully promoting the regional and rural construction even in the regions with unfavourable conditions for transport.
The newly-built cargo ships "Jinhung--1", "Jinhung--2" and "Jinhung--3" and excavating ship "Jinhung--4" were launched.
Their launching ceremony was held on the spot on the 8th.
Present at the ceremony were Kang Jong Gwan, Minister of Land and Maritime Transport, Ri Hi Yong, Chief Secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, officials of the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport and North Phyongan and Jagang provinces, employees of the Sinuiju Shipbuilding Factory and the Suphung Marine Transport Company, and working people in Sakju County.
Choe Yong Man, Chairman of the North Phyongan Provincial People's Committee, spoke at the ceremony to be followed by speeches.
The speakers said the fleet was formed on Lake Suphung at the direct proposal of the Party Central Committee and under its wise leadership, with the result that cement and other building materials came to be transported by ship in the regions around the lake, which had been carried by an overland route covering tens of kilometres, thus providing substantial conditions for accelerating the rural prosperity by making good use of the regional characteristics.
They called upon all the officials and working people to wage a more dynamic struggle for vigorously opening up a new era of regional rejuvenation in hearty response to the decisions of the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee and thus make an active contribution to the overall prosperity and development of the state.
After the ceremony, the cargo ships loaded with cement sailed out along with their whistles.
