Municipality presses on with land administration
Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, has undergone a facelift thanks to the efforts of officials and working people in the city.
The municipal people’s committee set the goal of the project and worked out a staged plan to further develop Pyongyang into a centre and model of socialist culture and conducted an offensive campaign to implement it.
The paving project of the Pyongyang-Taedong road was undertaken by Mangyongdae District.
Roads take an important place in developing the economy of the country and providing convenience in the life of the people.
Officials in the district ensured that the requirements of the construction methods were fully satisfied in all processes in order to completely improve the appearance of the road by focusing on ensuring its safety, durability and modernity.
Pothonggang District completely changed the looks of the Unha area with many institutions and enterprises.
As it was closely packed with production and public buildings, the reconstruction project of the Unha area was an uphill task to remove old structures, rebuild the infrastructure and build new roads, whose workload was equivalent to the building of a new section of the city.
Officials and working people pushed ahead with the project from a viewpoint of not repairing but building new sewage and storm sewerage networks and paving new roads.
In the course of this, a sewage network extending thousands of metres was newly constructed, roads were completely rebuilt, and the sections of production and public buildings were laid out to meet the modern aesthetic taste, completely changing the looks of the area in three months.
The district also developed Unha and Kumnan islets in the Pothong River into a cultural recreation ground for the people.
It built a sports park with volleyball, tennis and badminton courts and service facilities on Unha Islet covering an area of over 10 000 square metres. The scenery of Kumnan Islet, on which new outdoor sports grounds were newly built including a ssirum (Korean wrestling) ground and basketball court and trees of good species were planted, blends in well with Kyongru-dong, called the terrace of beads on the Pothong riverside, adding to the scenic beauty of the capital city.
Now, the municipality presses on with the projects for reinforcing the foundations of the embankment of Rungna Islet and paving the Pyongyang-Kangdong road after finishing the repair of Chongnyu Bridge.
