Officials and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea from across the country made a study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu from December 4 to 10.

During the study tour, the participants laid flower baskets and bouquets at the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il in the revolutionary battle sites and the city of Samjiyon.

They left Hyesan on December 4 and arrived at Pochonbo. They went round the command post of the Battle of Pochonbo, the police sub-station, the sub-county office and other places and toured the Rimyongsu Revolutionary Site and the Samjiyon Revolutionary Battle Site.

In Sobaeksu Valley they looked at Jong Il Peak, which stands imposingly reflecting the strong spirit of the peerlessly great man.

In front of the headquarters log cabin and Kim Jong Il's birthplace in the Paektusan Secret Camp they recollected with deep emotion the noble revolutionary careers of the President and the Chairman who performed immortal exploits for the country and its people, the times and history.

The trade union officials and members climbed Mt Paektu on December 8. Their song "We Will Go to Mt Paektu" on the mountaintop resounded far and wide.

At the Chongbong and Konchang bivouacs and the Taehongdan Revolutionary Battle Site, they looked back on the moral world of the anti-Japanese fighters who unhesitatingly devoted their youth and lives to accomplishing the historic cause of national liberation.

They held an oath-taking meeting at the plaza before the statue of Chairman Kim Jong Il in the city of Samjiyon on December 10.

During the march, they camped in forests and conducted colourful political and cultural activities like the anti-Japanese guerrillas, and toured the Samjiyon Revolutionary Museum, the Samjiyon Potato Farina Factory and others.
