Pyongyang, January 9 (KCNA) -- Songchon Hot Spring, one of the famous mineral springs in the DPRK, is in Songchon County of South Phyongan Province, well known for home of tobacco, silk and medicinal chestnut.
The main ionic components of the hot spring are bicarbonate and sodium ions. Also contained in it are radon and sulfur. Its temperature is 45.5°C and pH 8.6. Its daily gush amount is very high.
The hot spring is efficacious for the treatment of nervous system diseases, gynecopathy, operation sequela, rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases.
There are also medical facilities with hot spring and mineral water as the main treatment means.
In his speech at the inauguration ceremony of regional-industry factories in Songchon County for the Regional Development 20×10 Policy in December last year, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un stressed the need for the county to sustain its peculiar features and tap its potentialities and make the most of its traffic advantages to effectively develop and utilize such local resources for cultural tourism as the shores of the Piryu River and the Songchon Hot Spring.
Songchon County is now taking practical measures to develop and utilize the hot spring as local resources for cultural tourism. -0-
