Mass sports activities were conducted in different parts of the DPRK to mark the first day of sports for the year.
At Kim Il Sung Square, there took place group running and Taekwon-Do pattern judgement of officials from commissions, ministries and national agencies.
Colorful sports games were held at different units in the capital city of Pyongyang.
Officials and employees of the Mansudae Art Studio, Pyongyang Maternity Hospital and other units fully displayed the unity of the collective and the high sports technique through basketball, volleyball, table tennis and other sporting events.
Officials and workers at the Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant, the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Silk Mill and the Pothonggang Koryo Medicine Pharmaceutical Factory played various sporting events, including football, volleyball, table tennis, Taekwon-Do and tug-of-war.
Teachers and students at universities, colleges and schools, including Kim Il Sung University, Songyo Senior Middle School in Songyo District affiliated to the Kim Hyong Jik University of Education and Janggyong Primary School in Sosong District, boosted the sports enthusiasm through various events and folk games and amusement games.
Working people in all other parts of the country played the similar sporting events on the same day.
The workers at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex, the Tokchon Area Coal-mining Complex, the Taean Heavy Machine Complex and other industrial establishments demonstrated their great spirit through sporting events.
