Pyongyang, January 15 (KCNA) -- Officials and workers in the railway transport sector of the DPRK are striving to improve the transport capacity, true to the decisions of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Officials of the Ministry of Railways and relevant units have intensified the operation to ensure the safety of railways, increase the production of rolling stocks and raise the level of putting the transport organization and control on an IT basis.
The project for improving the condition of railways and repairing and reinforcing the railway facilities is gaining momentum.
Discussed are the ways for increasing the transport capacity by bringing about a radical change in the supply of locomotives and freight cars.
The work is going on to intensify the sci-tech guidance so that the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex can carry out in a responsible manner the task of producing advanced underground tramcars and electric locomotives with a higher pulling capacity.
Practical plans are being worked out to satisfy the demands for transport by strengthening the unified dispatcher command system to establish discipline and order in a well-regulated way and improving the railway operation and management.
A dynamic drive for increased transport has been waged from the outset of the year, amid the detailed operation for preferentially ensuring the transport of freights needed for various economic sectors and major construction projects and the growing enthusiasm of railway transport workers. -0-
