Pyongyang, January 16 (KCNA) -- The Sinpho City Offshore Farm, a new model base of advanced offshore farming, was successfully built in the Phungo-dong area in the city of Sinpho, South Hamgyong Province, on the east coast of the DPRK in December last year.
In the east coast there are many areas favorable for offshore farming, including Sinpho City which had been famous as a leading city in fishing and Chongjin City of North Hamgyong Province and Anbyon County of Kangwon Province.
It is because the ecological environment of the East Sea of Korea including the quality, depth and temperature of water is suitable for living of marine animals and plants.
The conditions for offshore farming are good as the whole waters of the East Sea of Korea are clear, the water flow is good and the topography of seabed is relatively deep close to the coast.
As the content of nutrition and salt is high in the water areas as large and small rivers including the Tuman River are flowing there, sea cucumber, sea urchin, scallop, ear shell, kelp and seaweed can be selected as ones for farming.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said in his significant speech made in commemoration of the inauguration ceremony of the Sinpho City Offshore Farm that our seas are clean and their ecological conditions are very good, stressing the need to conduct aquatic farming and culture on a large scale in coastal areas by utilizing these favorable conditions. -0-
