Sung Kyong Chol, Vice-Chairman of the State Commission of Science and Technology, told the Korean Central News Agency as regards measures to thoroughly guarantee the perfect implementation of the decisions made at the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on vigorously pulling the socialist construction by constantly developing science and technology.

He said the plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee presented it as an important task to enhance the role of science in this year's advance for concluding the first-stage struggle of pioneering and change toward the overall development of socialism, and continued.

The scientific research institutions are now intensifying discussions for selecting all the research and development projects of major industrial sectors and other sectors directly related to the people's living and carrying them out on a high level so as to provide a practical guarantee to their scientific accuracy and effectiveness and make them prove effective.

When the plans of readjustment and reinforcement are carried out, the quality of products is improved and the struggle for increased production and economy is waged as an all-people campaign, technical proposals for establishing advanced production processes is mapped out at the industrial establishments and practical measures are taken to manufacture and set up important equipment and establish the computer integrated manufacturing system.

Attention is also paid to actively developing and introducing advanced agricultural science and technology such as the introduction of high-yielding seeds, highly efficient soil improvement agents and rice seed disinfectant.

In order to further augment the successes made in implementing the regional development policy, a concrete operation plan is mapped out to fully solve the sci-tech problems arising in normal operation of the regional-industry factories and storage of products and raise the rate of localization of the ordered equipment.

To improve the administration of science and technology and renovate the sci-tech dissemination is also an important problem to further develop science and technology of the country.

Keeping deep in our hearts the great trust and love shown by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Unto the scientists and technicians, we will hit the goal of science and technology set at the plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee with our fresh confidence and strenuous efforts and thus powerfully lead the growth and development of the national economy as a whole, he stressed.
