Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- Sung Kyong Chol, vice-chairman of the State Commission of Science and Technology of the DPRK, gave an answer to the question put by KCNA as regards the measures for thoroughly guaranteeing the perfect implementation of the decision of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on pushing ahead with socialist construction by steadily developing science and technology. He said: It is of paramount importance to solve on a priority basis the sci-tech problems urgently awaiting solution in various sectors of the national economy. Scientific research institutes are now intensifying the discussion to select and carry out on a high level all the researches and development projects in major industrial sectors and sectors directly related to the people's living, so as to ensure their scientific accuracy and effectiveness and prove their worth. Also, attention is paid to developing and introducing advanced agricultural science and technology such as the introduction of high-yielding seeds, effective soil improvement agents and disinfectants for rice seeds and the development of various fertilizers while further enhancing the responsibility and role of the scientific farming promotion team whose advantages and vitality were proven through the past farming process. A detailed operation plan is being worked out to fully settle the sci-tech problems arising in the normal operation of regional-industry factories and the storage of products and increase the proportion of locally available custom-built equipment so as to further amplify the success made in implementing the regional development policy. The work for improving the science and technology administration as well as the dissemination of science and technologies is also important for making the country’s science and technology leap forward. Scientists have pooled their collective wisdom to update the aid system of science and technology administration and management for strengthening the unified guidance and control over the implementation of the country's science and technology development plan, the management of talents, technical management and examination. The vice-chairman stressed that, with the great trust and love of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un kept deep in mind, our scientists and technicians would surely attain the scientific and technological goals set forth at the plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee and thus push ahead with the overall growth and development of the national economy.
