Young people in capital city volunteer to work at grand socialist construction sites

More than 800 young people in the city of Pyongyang volunteered to work at grand socialist construction sites as shock-brigaders.
A meeting was held at the Pyongyang City Youth Open-Air Theatre with the attendance of Hong Chol Jin, Secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, youth league officials and youth and students.
Certificates were awarded to the volunteers and a congratulatory address and other speeches made at the meeting.
A speaker called upon all the young people to fully demonstrate the spirit and mettle of patriotic youth in the general onward march of the new year for hastening the overall development of Korean-style socialism as befitting the vanguard of and successors to the revolution who have grown up under the care of the Party.
Other speakers expressed their resolve to effect continued innovations to live up to the expectations of their parents and brothers and sisters, teachers, organizations and friends, always remembering the pledge they made.
At the meeting, a resolution was read out and then a red flag, which fluttered as a symbol of victory in the chronicles of the revolution and is permeated with the lofty soul of the forerunners, was handed over to the young volunteers.
