Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- Mass sports activities are brisk across the DPRK and public interest in sports is growing day by day.
Many cities, districts and counties across the country are being honored with the title of model sports county.
The work for making sports mass-based and part of daily life is being consistently conducted in Central District, Mangyongdae, Sosong, Moranbong and Songyo districts of Pyongyang Municipality.
Samjiyon City, Kim Jong Suk County and Kim Hyong Gwon County of Ryanggang Province, and Tokchon City and Yangdok County of South Phyongan Province are arousing the working people's interest in sports to help them take part in mass sports activities.
Mass sports activities are brisk at the worksites and villages in Kyonghung County, Phohang and Songphyong districts of Chongjin City in North Hamgyong Province, Sinpho City, Kowon and Pukchong counties and Sapho District of Hamhung City in South Hamgyong Province on holidays and days of sports, revving up the social atmosphere.
Many cities, districts and counties in North Phyongan, North Hwanghae, Kangwon and Jagang provinces and Nampho, Rason and Kaesong municipalities are conducting mass sports activities in diverse forms and ways.
The number of the cities, districts and counties honored with the title of model sports county is increasing with each passing day.
The title of model sports county was awarded to Phyongchon, Hyongjesan and Tongdaewon districts of Pyongyang Municipality, Sinuiju City and Yomju County of North Phyongan Province, Jongphyong County of South Hamgyong Province and Sungho County of North Hwanghae Province for the past four years as they had consolidated the material and technical foundations of sports and achieved successes in the training of reserve sportsperson and mass sports games. -0-
