Introducing Anatomical Models into Experiments and Practical Education

Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences has introduced various kinds of anatomical models into experiments and practical education to help students enhance their practical abilities.
Among them is the anatomical model with a sensor attached to each acupoint, which is of great help for students to learn acupuncture.
According to Hyon Jong Gu, vice-president of the university, hundreds of sensors installed in the model are connected to the computer to promptly display the depths, angles and positions of the needles applied by students, thus remarkably enhancing their cognitive and practical abilities.
At present, the university is working to generalize this teaching method to other medical universities across the country.
In addition, the university has made models for listening to heart and respiratory sounds, and models of gastrointestinal tract and brains, and applied them to education, making a big stride in putting experiments and practice on a modern and IT basis.
Steady efforts are being made to train students to possess sufficient practical abilities and prepare themselves to be competent health workers responsible for the lives and health of the people.
