Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- Working people's organizations in the DPRK held meetings with heroes of the Republic and a war veteran on Thursday on the occasion of the 77th founding anniversary of the Korean People's Army.

DPRK Hero Pak In Ho, a lecturer of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, told about the feats performed by the KPA seamen in January 1968 when they captured the U.S. imperialists’ armed spy ship Pueblo which intruded into the DPRK territorial waters.

He said that the U.S. imperialists threatened and blackmailed the DPRK, clamoring "retaliation" under the pretext of this incident, but they could not but kneel down before the courage and pluck of the peerlessly great men. This is a signal victory of historical significance won by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il , outstanding military strategists and iron-willed commanders.

Ho Ryong, a lecturer of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, said that he has led a worthwhile life as a pilot hero known to the whole country under the care of the peerlessly great men.

His story about military feat that he beat back the U.S. imperialists' strategic reconnaissance plane which intruded into the sky over the economic waters of the East Sea of Korea touched the heartstrings of the participants.

He said that as he fought with the outstanding military strategic idea and tactics, courage and pluck given by the Workers' Party of Korea, he could win victory in the confrontation with the enemies.

Kim Juk Song, a war veteran, told about the words in the letter of pledge adopted by KPA seamen before the naval battle in the waters off Jumunjin and about the days when she was engaged in a medical campaign to save the lives of comrades-in-arms as chief nurse.

She said that the KPA has developed into the strongest revolutionary armed forces reliably guaranteeing the defence of the sovereignty and the enhancement of the prestige of the state with matchless arms under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .

Through the meetings with the heroes and war veteran, the participants realized that the country is great and the people can demonstrate glory as they have held the great brilliant commander in high esteem. They vowed to devote their all to the national defence, sincerely assist the People's Army and conduct mass movements to contribute to bolstering up the military capabilities.

Present at the meetings were Pak In Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, Jon Hyang Sun, chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Women's Union of Korea, officials of the youth league, the trade unions and the women's union, youth and students, workers and members of the trade unions and the women's union in Pyongyang. -0-
