Birthday Party Given for Examinees

Not long ago, the examinees who attended an entrance examination for Wonsan University of Fisheries were surprised when they were led by officials to the mess hall of the university.

The elaborate dishes were waiting for them.

An official of the university, offering dishes to the examinees, was sorry that the birthday party was not so wonderful as one they were given by their parents at home.

Then the examinees were touched.

Actually, they were busy with their tight examination schedule, so they did not think of their birthdays.

Their parents were also moved when they heard the story.

Indeed, such beautiful stories can be heard only in our socialist society.

Emotion of Old Couple

Employees of the district Manbyongcho Goods Supply Station visited the house of an old woman Ri Son A living in Samma-dong No.2, Tongdaewon District on a rest day several days ago.

Receiving them, the old couple expressed their delight and yet were surprised.

Because the employees had called on them on the morning of the New Year’s Day and the Lunar New Year’s Day and spent all day long together with them lest they should feel lonely.

But they visited again on the rest day.

Looking at the employees giving materials for tonics and foodstuffs to them, the couple recollected the past days.

A few years ago, Sin Ok Song, head of the station, learnt that they had no children and asked in detail the couple about their address, health condition and so on. Not long after that, she and her employees visited them.

Since then, they have frequently called on them on usual days and even on holidays and rest days.

Whenever seeing them take care of their life with kindred feelings, the old couple keenly felt benevolence of our society where everybody forms one family.

That day the old couple sang the song "We Are the Happiest in the World" again and again, proud of their blessed life in the era of the Workers’ Party.

On Morning of Lunar New Year’s Day

On the morning of the Lunar New Year’s Day, Kim Nam Hui, the dairy product supplier in Unsu-ri, Rangnim County, was under uneasiness.

She was anxious lest the dairy product-carrying van should be quite late or, worse still, not arrive there, far away from the township, at all because it was a gala day and it had snowed heavily.

At that very moment, she heard a horn from outside. She was delighted, but the next moment she remembered it was even far ahead of the usual arrival time.

Then, someone knocked at the door.

It was none other than the van driver.

According to him, the officials of the county learnt about the condition of the van and urged him to leave early, saying that the dairy products had to be supplied to children earlier than usual as it was the Lunar New Year’s Day.

Kim felt a lump in her throat.

She made up her mind to do better her assigned task for the blessed children living under such attentive care.
