At a time when the outlook on the revolution, thoroughgoing patriotic spirit and matchless fighting efficiency peculiar to the heroic Korean People’s Army are being demonstrated as the unprecedentedly legendary feats in the sacred course of building a rich country with a strong army led by the ever-victorious Workers’ Party of Korea, the great leadership adding a continued viability to the brave stride of the KPA has been recorded in the cradle of its political and ideological mightiness and the strategic fortress for building a powerful army.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, visited Kim Il Sung University of Politics, the supreme military and political institution of the Juche-oriented revolutionary armed forces, on February 24.

All the teaching staff and students of the university and service personnel of the sub-units under it were filled with boundless emotion and joy before the glorious moment of meeting the great teacher and brilliant commander, whom they longed to see so much even in dream, at the campus in the historic year marking the 80th founding anniversary of the university.

When the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un arrived at the university, the service personnel broke into stormy cheers of “Hurrah!” of the greatest respect, looking up to the peerlessly illustrious commander who is leading the brilliant history of the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK to eternal victory and glory and dynamically ushering in a new era of building a powerful army on the ideology-first principle with his outstanding army-building ideas and energetic leadership.

The university courteously greeted the head of state.

After receiving a salute from the president of the university, he paid militant tribute to the glorious colours.

An educator and student of the university presented him with fragrant bouquets in humble reverence.

Acknowledging the enthusiastic cheers, he extended warm greetings to the teaching staff who are reliably guaranteeing the sacred cause of making the KPA ideologically elite with their steadfast revolutionary spirit and brilliant educational and scientific achievements at the prestigious military and political school and to the students who are preparing themselves to be staunch and promising political workers of the future.

He was accompanied by Pak Jong Chon, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and secretary of the Party Central Committee, No Kwang Chol, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, and other members of the Central Military Commission of the WPK.

The teaching staff and students had a march-past, flying the colours associated with the great honour and feats of the university.

Kim Jong Un made an important speech to be specially recorded in the history of building the Juche-oriented powerful army.

The political and ideological traits of the KPA have remained consistently honourable and faithful to the army founding generation and the country and people despite the passage of the long years and changes of history, he said, stressing that this is unthinkable apart from the exploits of Kim Il Sung University of Politics which has steadfastly fulfilled its role in the key position guaranteeing the succession of the revolutionary armed forces. He noted that the prestige of the university shines with pride in the new era of great changes and transformations and its existence stands out with remarkable meaning as it is a basis of the powerful revolutionary army which is imbued with the ideology of the Party and remains absolutely loyal to its leadership.

There is a sharp contrast between the past and the present in the history of Juche-oriented army building in terms of the weaponry of our army, but only the ideas loaded in them remain unchanged, and Kim Il Sung University of Politics has remained boundlessly faithful to its mission and duty in the course of the revolutionary struggle in which the mightiness of the ideology-first principle is fully verified, he said, recalling with deep emotion the glorious history of the university which has made a great contribution to training many persons of a communist type and defending the succession of our revolutionary cause for 80 years since its founding.

Saying that the WPK always appreciates the political workers imbuing the service personnel with the noble spirit and bravery and their alma mater as well as the heroic feats of the KPA, he noted that it is the most brilliant achievement of the university, which cannot be compared with any academic prestige or educational and scientific successes, that it highly enhances as the character peculiar to the KPA the matchless loyalty and heroism of braving hardship and sacrifice cheerfully in response to the call of the country, cherishing the glorious colours as its life. And he paid respects to the educators who have devoted themselves to accomplishing the Party’s cause of building a powerful army.

He stressed that the KPA, which defends the most righteous cause, the most righteous state and the most righteous people, should surely become the strongest army in the world, and the foremost might and superiority our revolutionary armed forces should steadily adhere to and boost for this important historic mission and heavy responsibility are none other than the political, ideological, spiritual and moral superiority of the army of the WPK and the people.

Referring to the fact that it has been an established theory to count soldiers and weapons as two elements of the armed forces in any century and any country and that no country has been able to break from advocating the military technology-centred theory in the building of armed forces and in the course of war up to now in the 21st century, he said that from the historical point of view and in consideration of modern warfare, we can clearly see in practice the limitation of the military technology-centred theory ignoring the ideological building of the army.

It is a stark immutable truth that the ideological and moral superiority of the army means its qualitative superiority, he stressed. Saying that imbuing the army with ideology before arming it with military technology is the core of army building, he expressed his new view that soldiers, weapons and ideology are three elements of the armed forces.

The arms devoid of ideology are little short of ironware and it is a conclusion we reach definitely once again that it is the basic way of building a powerful army to strengthen the political force of the army on a preferential basis and in a qualitative way, he noted. Proceeding from this, he clarified, the building of the KPA should be invariably and thoroughly oriented toward giving priority to making it strong politically, ideologically and morally and toward steadily training the combat ranks to be elite and then toward developing the military and technical equipment in all domains including the nuclear armed forces at the highest level.

Today when the struggle for transformation, unprecedented in the history of the DPRK, is being staged amid the rapid changes in the world, the role of the KPA contributing to carrying out the national strategic plans and policies is in an extraordinarily important position more than ever before, he pointed out, stressing that the KPA should have political workers who always conduct positive activities to redouble the power of ideology in the fields of military activities for implementing the Party’s lines and policies in order to successfully fulfil its mission and role that are getting more important. And he referred to the important mission and role of Kim Il Sung University of Politics as the supreme military and political school, which should firmly guarantee the political force of the KPA.

Analysing the reason why some deviations of failing to meet the demands and expectations of the Party Central Committee are being revealed among political workers standing in the position of educators of service personnel, he clarified in detail the tasks to be carried out by the teaching staff and students of the university in the struggle to further perfect the political, ideological, mental and moral preparations of the army.

Saying that the supreme political school of the KPA should surely become the best university in view of its important position and duty directly related to the prospect of the Korean revolution, he expressed the firm will of the WPK to completely improve the educational conditions and environment of the university.

When the university, a main base for implementing the WPK’s line of making the army politically and ideologically strong and a “pedigree farm” for cultivating the heroic spirit of the KPA, remains more faithful to its duty, our revolutionary armed forces will grow stronger and their invincible might be steadily redoubled, he said, affirming that the immortal dignity and glory of the heroic KPA will shine forever along with Kim Il Sung University of Politics which ensures an eternal continuity of its sacred bloodline and tradition of victory.

When Kim Jong Un finished his speech, all the participants broke into enthusiastic cheers with great excitement of receiving his original revolutionary idea on army building that indicates the path for further strengthening and developing our revolutionary armed forces into the ever-victorious vanguard, more elite in ideology and strongest in fighting efficiency, with his rare ideological and theoretical wisdom, profound insight and outstanding theory.

Kim Jong Un went round several places of the university including the study room of the WPK building, the integrated pedagogical information control room and the educational achievements exhibition hall.

He highly spoke of the educators and officials of the university, saying that whereas the precious being indispensable for the destiny and future of the country and people is the KPA, the precious being indispensable for the KPA is just this university and its educators and officials rendering faithful service. He stressed again that the KPA is resolute politically and ideologically and strongest in fighting efficiency as the university has trained the political workers of every generation in a single appearance and produced competent political workers who constantly imbue the entire army with the red ideas of the WPK.

After seeing a seminar of the students on the plan of the Party political work, he gave instructions for the university to train the students to be political workers who have mastered the Juche-oriented military ideas and theories of the WPK and the Korean-style art of war and can conduct the Party political work skilfully in conformity with different combat situations and to be skilful political activists who can vigorously promote the work for making the entire army ideologically and mentally elite and completing the war preparations.

He called upon all the teachers of the university to verify before the Party and their disciples that they should become revolutionaries before becoming educators in practice and with ability and personality and to make a tangible contribution to innovating and developing the work for training Party political workers with the loyalty cherished as faith, pure patriotic mind, perfect ability of educator and scientific and theoretical prestige.

Kim Jong Un had photo sessions with the teaching staff and students in token of his visit to the university.

When he appeared at the venue of the photo session, all the participants extended their deep thanks to him, looking up to the dear father who visited the university to offer an immortal great programme for dynamically steering a new turning point in training political workers of the revolutionary army and bestowed loving care and benevolence to be handed down through generations.

After meeting the students exemplary in studies and military service and warmly encouraging them, he posed for a photo to be recorded forever in the history of army building together with all the teaching staff and students.

Saying that the teaching staff and students of the university are the core of the core revolutionaries, whom the Party trusts best and on whose role it pins a particularly great expectation, he expressed his expectation and belief that all the teaching staff and students will become genuine revolutionaries fully embodying the soul and breath of the WPK before anyone else and thus become the cornerstone and pillar of the revolutionary army by fully playing their role.

That day, he saw the sports games between the teaching staffs and students of Kim Il Sung University of Politics and Kang Kon Military Academy.

The games between the prestigious educational institutions of the KPA were held divided into football and volleyball events.

In the football match of fierce offensive and defence, there was an 11-metre penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw.

The team of the university of politics defeated the team of the military academy 5-3 in total.

The team of the university of politics also beat its rival team 3-1 in the volleyball match.

All the participants renewed their firm will to uphold the ideology and leadership of the great Party Central Committee with absolute loyalty and distinguished educational achievements, paying the highest tribute to Kim Jong Un who warmly encouraged them to fulfil their sacred duty in further consolidating the greatest political and military might of the heroic KPA, while spending the precious whole day with his military educational soldiers.

Kim Jong Un’s sacred leadership over the highest institution of political education of the army will shine long in history as a visit which provided a powerful ideological and theoretical guideline for making the heroic KPA, a source of pride of our great Party, state and people and a symbol of their strength, carry forward the brilliant honour of the politically, ideologically and morally strong army, which has been carried on from one century to the next, with its absolute might for a hundred, nay a thousand years, and for further consolidating the mightiness and matchlessness with which it overwhelms any enemy and challenge at a stroke.
