Pyongyang, February 28 (KCNA) -- A relevant sub-unit of the combined missile units of the Korean People's Army in the western area conducted a strategic cruise missile launching drill in the West Sea of Korea on the morning of February 26.
The purpose of the launching drill was to inform the enemies, who are seriously violating the security environment of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and fostering and escalating the confrontation environment, of the KPA's counterattack capability in any space and the readiness of its various nuke operation means, and to demonstrate the reliability of the state nuclear deterrence and make the strategic cruise missile sub-units get adept in fulfilling their sudden firing mission.
Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, oversaw the launching drill.
Accompanying him were Full General Kim Jong Sik, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, and Full General Jang Chang Ha, general director of the DPRK Missile Administration.
The strategic cruise missiles precisely hit the targets after making a flight along 1 587 km-long oval trajectory for 7 961-7 973 seconds.
Expressing satisfaction over the result of the launching drill, Kim Jong Un said that it is a responsible exercise of the DPRK's war deterrence to continuously test the reliability and operation of the components of its nuclear deterrence and demonstrate their might.
What is guaranteed by powerful striking ability is the most perfect deterrence and defence capacity, he said, stressing that it is the responsible mission and duty of the DPRK's nuclear armed forces to permanently defend the national sovereignty and security with the reliable nuclear shield by getting more thorough battle readiness of nuclear force and full preparedness for their use. -0-
