Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- The seasonal character of spring in the DPRK witnessing low precipitation, long spell of dry weather, and frequent strong wind requires each region of the country to take a more thorough step for preventing forest fire.

In this regard, a KCNA reporter had an interview with Kim Sung Hyok, head of an office of the Forest Guidance Bureau of the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, over the forest protection and management during the forest fire prevention in spring.

True to the idea of the Workers' Party of Korea on turning all mountains into treasure and gold mountains, officials and working people across the country have devoted their patriotic and sincere efforts to the work for covering mountains with green woods, Kim Sung Hyok said, and went on:

If we are careless about the forest fire prevention and relax our guard, the precious forest resources of the country created with painstaking efforts up to now will suffer big damage, and this will result in huge losses to the economic development, the people's livelihood and the land management.

The reality proves that to prevent the forest fire is an important political undertaking directly related to the defence of the Party's policy and a priority requirement for forest conservation and management, before it is a simple practical matter.

It is important for provinces, cities and counties to push ahead with the project for establishing a well-regulated system of forest-fire monitoring and notice and extinguishment mobilization.

Each forest ranger and forest-fire watchman should conduct the forest-fire monitoring and control in the forest areas under their charge in a responsible manner.

Full advance preparations should be made to ensure the timely mobilization of fire extinguishing equipment and vehicles, and thorough readiness should be maintained for immediate extinguishment once a forest fire breaks out.

All officials and working people should positively turn out in the forest-fire prevention with a firm viewpoint that it is just for the forest conservation and also the important political work. -0-
