Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Nampho Municipality of the DPRK produced more than ten million saplings of 50-odd species necessary for spring tree-planting and launched a tree-planting campaign on a mass basis.
The municipal forest management bureau worked out a step-wise plan for raising the level of scientific and intensive sapling production at the tree nurseries in districts and counties and conducted technical guidance and review of work.
The municipal tree nursery and Waudo District put the operation of sci-tech learning space on a normal basis to improve the technical skill of employees and applied carbonated self-sufficing manure to hasten the growing period of saplings.
The rate of rooting of saplings was boosted in Kangso and Chollima districts.
Officials and working people in Onchon County and Taean District established a gravity-fed irrigation system to grow zelkova and Sangwon poplar trees while securing good species of seeds and storing and sowing them as required by science and technology.
Officials, working people, youth and students in the municipality have planted tress as required by technical rules amid the mounting social atmosphere for tree planting in spring.
On the tree-planting day alone, they planted more than 100 000 trees of 10-odd species in forests of economic value, raw material bases, streets, villages, workplaces and campuses. -0-
