Pyongyang, March 25 (KCNA) -- On March 25, 2015, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un sent a historic letter "Let Us Usher in a New Golden Age of Building a Sports Power in the Revolutionary Spirit of Paektu" to the participants in the Seventh National Conference of Sportspeople.
The General Secretary said in his work that sports play a very important role in strengthening the national power, adding luster to the dignity and honor of the country, inspiring the people with national pride and self-esteem and making the revolutionary spirit pervade the whole society.
In particular, he indicated the tasks and ways for developing the country's sports onto a new high level, including the issue of creating and actively applying the advantageous playing tactics of Korean style, the issue of making sports mass-based and part of daily life so that all the people can enjoy sports and the whole country can be seething with enthusiasm for sports, and the issue of dynamically promoting the work to put sports on a scientific basis.
The validity and vitality of the Workers' Party of Korea's idea and policy on attaching importance to sports have been strikingly demonstrated over the past decade.
Our sportspersons have achieved eye-opening successes in international games, including Olympiad and world championships in different events, and the climate of attaching importance to sports and enthusiasm for mass-based sports have swept the whole country as never before.
Research achievements conducive to putting sports on a scientific and IT basis have been made to promote the country's development of sports.
The General Secretary's celebrated work is an immortal programme that comprehensively illuminates the road of developing the Juche-oriented sports. -0-
