Pyongyang, March 25 (KCNA) -- In recent years, scientists, technicians, researchers and officials in South Hwanghae Province of the DPRK have introduced more than 50 valuable research achievements into practice, making it possible to bring about a fresh advance in the regional agricultural production and economic development. Researchers of the provincial institute of agricultural science bred a variety of early rice with short growth period and high-yield per hectare. It also bred high-yielding varieties of wheat and barley suited to the weather and soil conditions of production sites and registered them as regional varieties. Teachers and researchers of Kim Je Won Haeju University of Agriculture studied a variety of paddy rice with strong resistance to base and introduced it into tideland farming to increase per-hectare yield. Yonan County produced growth stimulant and soil ameliorant with tailing from the course of producing nonferrous metal, and introduced them into agricultural production. Amid the brisk work to introduce advanced farming technologies, many units have applied high-yielding varieties and high-yielding cultivation technology to farming. The provincial industrial technology institute solved sci-tech problems arising in establishing a line of producing raw materials necessary for the production of medicines and cosmetics and finished the manufacture and installation of equipment by its own efforts. Teachers and researchers of Hwangnam University of Technology and the provincial e-business institute remodeled a control program of automatic printer and cutter in Korean style and Kim Jong Thae Haeju University of Education proposed a homemade caustic soda production line and laid a foundation for its industrialization. The provincial power transmission and distribution station solved technical problems related to the establishment of a current transformer production line, thus reducing the power loss and giving much benefit to the state.
