Medical workers at the Pyongyang Municipal Dental Hospital have developed an advanced material for conservative dental treatment, thus improving the quality of medical service.
Having set an objective to develop advanced root canal filler, Won Un Ok, a doctor at the pediatric dental department, and her colleagues launched into full-scale research. The officials of the hospital gave active support and help to them.
After studying the literature, selecting materials and analyzing experiments at various stages, the research group selected rational materials, confirmed the mixing ratio and intensified research.
Finally, after one year of strenuous efforts, they succeeded in developing a root canal filling material with superior technical specifications.
Jong Kwan Sok, the director of the hospital, said that as it can help restore a damaged tooth with one or two treatment sessions and has excellent qualitative characteristics, strong function of repressing bacteria and a long retention period, the root canal filler is widely used in dental treatment.
