The pharmacies newly built in all the districts of Pyongyang enjoy growing popularity among citizens as they are open round the clock and have a wide range of medicines in store.
Among them is the Junggu Pharmacy of the Central District Medical Supplies Management Station.
The pharmacy gives right prescriptions according to the conditions of the visitors and recommends unique medication accordingly, thus helping their recovery.
Kang Myong Il, a consultant at the pharmacy, said: Recently Many visitors have complained that they are suffering from a common cold for unreasonably long. We thought that the key to the solution might be in traditional medicines. So we combine traditional Koryo medicines and modern medicines in a scientific way, which greatly helps the patients.
The Koryo medicine counter on the first floor gives correct diagnosis by taking the visitors’ physical constitutions and seasonal changes into consideration and serves various kinds of decoctions made with Koryo medicinal materials according to the prescription.
A regular visitor living in Tongan-dong, Central District, said: I took modern medicines for a month for bronchiolitis, but it was not treated. But I was completely cured of it after I took the decoction made by this pharmacy together with modern medicines for three days.
There are many cases where the method recommended by the pharmacy proved effective in treating chronic gastritis, chronic hepatitis, cold and cough, allergic rhinitis and other diseases.
Its employees are full of determination to make a contribution to the promotion of people’s health by steadily developing medication therapies while securing medicines in high demand in a far-sighted way.
