Many countries of the world are now taking measures at national level in various fields of social life including education and health care to ensure the children’s rights as well as to improve their living condition.

The 2 nd Conference of African Children has been held in Cape Town, South Africa from April 4 to 7 to assess the progress made in the protection of children’s rights under the theme of increasing regional and intercontinental cooperation. The conference served as an occasion of greatly encouraging and supporting the position and efforts of African countries to protect and promote the human rights of children.

In a recent meeting, Prime Minister Mishustin of the Russian Federation has reportedly referred to the establishment of the national system for guaranteeing children’s life and growth and discussed the government plan to increase the number of families with many children while reviewing the work of last year which had been declared as “year of family” by President Putin.

Mongolia also made public a government plan for giving impetus to the enforcement of the law on comprehensive development of education and for radically increasing the access to kindergartens and schools.

Such efforts of the international community highlight that the protection and good upbringing of children are legal and moral duties of the state and society and, moreover, an important matter decisive of the rise and fall of the country and nation.

Ever since its founding, our Republic has regarded children’s issue as the top priority of the state. Having adopted the Law on the Protection and Promotion of Children’s Rights, the DPRK ensures by law the full protection of children’s rights and interests in all fields including social life, education, health care, family and the jurisdiction.

Our Party upholds children as kings and queens of the country and spares nothing for them. Although the state is not well-off yet, our Party has set forth it as a consistent and eternal state policy to supply all children with nourishing foods including dairy products at state’s expense every day and provide students across the country with high-quality and stylish school uniforms and school things every year. And the Party is resolutely carrying out the policy.

When the northern parts of our country were hit by sudden natural disaster last year, children from the damaged areas did not sleep in tents or temporary shelters like the children in other countries. Instead, they stayed at world-class camps and modern hotels built in Pyongyang. They received their lessons without any interruption in wonderfully equipped schools. Such amazing reality was also unfolded under the wise leadership of our Party.

Indeed, our children are growing up happily with nothing to envy in the world, thanks to the benevolent care of the Party and the policy of the most superior socialist system. From the faces of our children more cheerful and healthier than ever, our people are convinced of the ever bright and prosperous future of our country.
