Modern foodstuff factories built in different parts of the country according to the Regional Development 20×10 Policy advanced by the Workers’ Party of Korea maintain regular production.
They are striving to develop more goods representing their local features while focusing on the increased production of tasty and nutritious condiments, drinks, confectionery and bread.
The Songchon County Foodstuff Factory in South Phyongan Province produces jelly, jam and other foods with Songchon chestnut which has long been well known for its medicinal value across the country.
The factory works to make all their new products specialities of their region by further improving their technical indices.
The Tongsin County Foodstuff Factory in Jagang Province produces mulberry juice with peculiar taste and colour as mulberry trees are widely raised in the county.
The Kyongsong County Foodstuff Factory in North Hamgyong Province, home to the health-friendly matrimony vine, turns out jelly, cakes, juice, peppered paste and liquor by using its fruits.
The Ichon County Foodstuff Factory in Kangwon Province churns out different kinds of foodstuffs with wild fruits such as jujube, pine nut, chestnut and wild grape and pear, and with astragalus and other medicinal herbs.
Orang County of North Hamgyong Province bordering on the East Sea of Korea produces dried, frozen, fermented and pickled goods with walleye pollack, cod, hard-finned sandfish, flatfish, anchovy and shellfish, while Hamju County of South Hamgyong Province produces frozen corbicula, a kind of shellfish which is a speciality of the county.
The foodstuff factories in Onchon County of Nampho Municipality and Sukchon County of South Phyongan Province along the West Sea of Korea turn out processed marine products including dried flesh of goby and gray mullet, plus different kinds of pickled fish such as shellfish, tiny shrimp and anchovy.
