Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 93rd founding anniversary of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA).
This day, the Korean people recollect with deep emotion the proud history of the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK which have always been faithful to its mission as not only defenders of the country but creators of the people's happiness since it had the letter "People" in its name.
President Kim Il Sung , who founded the KPRA (the then Anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army) on April 25, 1932, put forward the idea that "As fish cannot live without water, so guerrillas cannot live without the people" as the principle governing activities of the revolutionary army.
He regarded it as the issue decisive of the existence of the guerrilla army before the issue decisive of the victory and defeat of a battle to love the people and to be supported by them. He always told his men to love the people more deeply and said that if we neglect the people, they will turn their backs on us, that there is nothing more dreadful than being forsaken by the people and that for a revolutionary, the biggest tragedy is to lose the people's love.
He reflected the popular character of the revolutionary army in the "Tentative Regulations of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army" and led all the commanding officers and men with his practical examples to devote themselves to the interests of the people, always giving top priority to the life and security of the people.
The revolutionary legend "Commander is a son of the people", which was brought into full bloom in the days of the anti-Japanese war, is still remembered by our people.
After knowing the fact that recruits picked corn ears in a peasant's field, he made them put the corn ears at the edge of the field. And before attacking the internment villages and fortified towns of the enemy, he evacuated the people to safe places or lured the enemy out of residential areas and destroyed them. Such lots of legendary stories about his love for the people have been conveyed.
Thanks to the leadership of the President, who regarded it as his motto to believe in the people as in Heaven, the KPRA created a genuine model of the army-people relations unprecedented in history and could win only victory in every battle amid the active support and encouragement of the people. -0-
