Pak Mi Ryong, a technical assistant at the Moranbong Unha Garment Factory, received the top prize at the autumn clothes show-2023 and the garment exhibition-2024.
The women’s coats and padded clothes designed by her drew the interests of experts and visitors for their unique shapes.
After graduating from middle school, she was appointed needle worker at the finishing workshop of the factory.
At that time, the workshop head assigned her to a skilled worker so that she could learn sewing techniques from her, saying that all parts from the various production lines were assembled to finished clothes at the workshop.
Mi Ryong made painstaking efforts to reach the level of skilled workers as soon as possible.
A year later, she was involved in a study-while-you-work system.
Not content with learning, she ventured to design and process clothes according to the quality of their materials.
In the course of making clothes for herself first and then for her friends, she gradually expanded her horizons in garment processing and learned the methods of designing clothes according to ages, physical constitutions and occupations.
In particular, she tried to focus on joining the shoulder and arm parts well so as to give stability to clothes.
Her designs and products were always highly appreciated at the factory’s designs and samples shows. In the course of this she became a technical assistant in her early twenties.
This year alone, she has produced several novel and refined designs.
“Her unique view and distinguished talent are unthinkable apart from her high responsibility for her duties,” said Sin Yong Chol, head of the technical preparation laboratory.
