The April 15 Children's Flower Garden, in which the Flower Festival-2025 is now under way on the theme of "Balmy Spring, Our Beautiful Life", is attracting many visitors every day.

According to Kim Yon A, an official of the Korean Floriculture Association, the current festival brought together more than 200 units and flower fanciers across the country, along with the flowering plant research and production units in Pyongyang and local areas. Many people visit the festival venue displaying various kinds of flowers and unique products made of flowers, she added.

The most exciting area is the outdoor exhibition section.

The fountain dancing to the tune of music, the flower beds and flowerpot stands decorated with ground-cover plants and various species of flowers and spectacular sights consisting of plant sculptures represented by employing the formative arts are drawing the admiration of visitors.

Among them are a building model decorated with beautiful flowers of various kinds and a plant sculpture depicting a fishing boat sailing across the sea. They are so fascinating that every visitor wants to have a photograph taken against the background of them.

Hong Chol Gyu, an official of the Pyongyang Construction Commission, said that the officials of the commission made a model of the newly built iconic building of Hwasong Street decorated with flowers by pooling their creative wisdom to produce a work reflecting the phases of the times well while showing the features of their unit and presented it to the festival.

The plant sculpture depicting a fishing boat sailing across the sea mirrors the optimism of the citizens of Sinpho City, whose life would be further enriched as the Sinpho City Offshore Farm was modernly built in the coastal area of South Hamgyong Province according to the Regional Development 20×10 Policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea, said Kim Yon A.

The flowerpot stands presented by the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the Korean Floriculture Association also attract the attention of experts and fanciers for their peculiarities and outstanding natural beauty.

The built-up floating group of flowerpots presented by the State Academy of Sciences is set up in the artificial pond built at the flower garden, showing a spectacular sight. Seeing the beautiful flowers floating in the water on board boats while paddling, all the visitors are full of joy.

The plant exhibition hall of the flower garden also lures visitors with many flowers and foliage plants.

Kimilsungia, Kimjongilia and other flowering plants, weeping fig, cactuses and other foliage plants and dwarf trees competitively boast of their beauty and shapely figures in the plant exhibition hall, the indoor exhibition section of the festival venue.

“No flowers are as beautiful as Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia in every aspect,” said Jon Il Suk, a resident of Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang.

“Weeping fig and cactuses are plants with a high ornamental value and air-purification ability. Such foliage plants at home are very helpful in improving indoor environment,” said Kim Sun Hwa living in Taesong District of Pyongyang, before buying several flowerpots at the festival.

Kim Yon A said that the current festival would be a significant occasion for adding pleasure to the people greeting the balmy spring and for turning the whole country into a socialist paradise alive with all sorts of flowers.
