Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- A national meeting took place at the People's Palace of Culture in the DPRK on Thursday to mark the 135th May Day, the international holiday of the working people of the whole world.

Present there were Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Kim Tok Hun, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, and other senior Party and government officials, officials of ministries and national agencies, and officials and working people of institutions and industrial establishments in Pyongyang.

Present there on invitation were members of the diplomatic missions here and overseas compatriots staying here.

On the occasion of the May Day, the premier, upon authorization of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK, extended congratulations to all the working people across the country, including the working class, agricultural workers and intellectuals who are working hard to increase production and perform miracles for the sacred cause of patriotism for the prosperity and development of our great state.

He said that the working people of the country, who had suffered hardships of life, being subjected to subhuman humiliation and insult before national liberation, have glorified a worthwhile life as those strong in ideology and faith and ardent patriots under the great care of the peerlessly great men who saved their destiny, and trained and led them to achieve the prosperity of the country with inexhaustible labour enthusiasm.

Though one hundred and tens of years have passed since the international holiday of the working masses was instituted, there are no true revolutionaries and powerful creators in the world like the working people of Juche Korea who have become the proud masters of the state and society and staunchly upheld their cause with strong mental strength, unity and sincere efforts, he noted.

The reporter said that in the great era of Kim Jong Un our working people are confidently ushering in a new era of leap forward and innovation in all fields of socialist construction with the highest dignity and personality.

He said that the working class, agricultural workers, scientists and technicians of the DPRK have the noble name of the eldest son of the country, faithful and patriotic working people who have defended the Party and the revolution with rice and powerful core force of the Korean revolution given by the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un .

With the firm faith that all victories and glory lie in following and faithfully supporting only the great Comrade Kim Jong Un with a single mind, the working people of the country have brought about a new era of comprehensive rejuvenation in which unprecedented changes and miracles take place in all fields of state building, braving countless challenges and difficulties through indomitable and unyielding struggle and efforts, he said.

He called upon all the working people to unconditionally fulfill the five-year plan decided by the Eighth Congress of the WPK through an extraordinarily redoubled labour struggle with the firm conviction that the revolutionary ideology and leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un are a science, truth and victory and to make a greater stride of progress toward a new stage of development.

The DPRK government will, in the future, too, always be responsible for the working people, regarding the people-first idea of the Workers' Party of Korea as its immutable guideline, and fulfill its mission and role in social emancipation of the working masses of the world and in building an independent and peaceful new world, he said.

The reporter called upon all the working people to more dynamically struggle for the beloved country and the brilliant victory of the cause of building a powerful country with the honor and pride of being builders of socialism in the great era of Kim Jong Un . -0-
