People call Kim Un Yong, a youth league member of the Changdo County Science and Technology Committee, “granddaughter” of war veteran Jon Pong Jae.
In July four years ago, she had established ties with the war veteran, who is living in neighbourhood unit No. 102 in Changdo County Town.
At a meeting with the war veteran, Kim was deeply impressed by her story about her comrades-in-arms who had unsparingly devoted their youth and lives to defending the country during the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953) when even rocks were burnt down.
Kim thought that the younger generation can lead a happy life today, thanks to the victorious wartime generation.
Therefore, she felt an urge to support the war veteran as her real grandmother and visited her home.
Kim took warm care of her health and life with utmost sincerity lest she should get ill or there should be a lack of anything in life.
Shortly ago, Kim visited her again with tonics she had prepared with sincerity.
For her deep affection for and devotion to Jon, Kim Un Yong has been admired by people as a “real granddaughter” of the war veteran.
