The unbounded enthusiasm for volunteering is spreading like wildfire across the country, greatly impressing all people and firing them with patriotic fever.

Volunteering for difficult and labour-consuming sectors before others

Amid a new surge of spirit of the young vanguard across the country who are out for performing the important tasks set forth at the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, more than 80 young men and women in South Phyongan Province volunteered to work at the major projects for socialist construction in January this year.

Scores of young people in Kaechon and Tokchon cities and Pukchang and Mundok counties made up their mind to become young labour innovators and heroes who will make a breakthrough for advance in the important workplaces for the development of the self-supporting economy and joined the youth shock brigades at coal mines.

They were followed by many other young people across the country including Pyongyang Municipality and North Phyongan, Kangwon, South Hamgyong, North Hamgyong and Ryanggang provinces.

In the past decades, the DPRK young people had brought their dreams and ideals into line with the plans of the Party and volunteered to work on the major fronts for building a powerful country, stirring up the times.

In hearty response to the Party's call for wonderfully building the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station as a grand monument to youth ten years ago, young people carried out their uphill tasks in over 120 days, creating the Paektusan hero youth spirit and legend.

In 2021 alone, more than 10 000 young people found their jobs in the difficult and labour-consuming sectors and were congratulated by all people as standard-bearers in performing feats, doing laudable deeds and creating civilization and heroes of stories about noble virtues and traits. In 2023 which marked the 75th founding anniversary of the DPRK, over 100 000 youth league officials and other young people volunteered for major fronts of socialist construction.

Last year nearly 300 000 young men and women volunteered all at once for the reconstruction of flood-hit areas into cultured country towns and fairyland villages, true to the call of the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un.

The ranks of patriotic young people who are glorifying their youth at the posts to which the country calls them, vowing to open up a new era of national prosperity in the van, are on the steady increase, with the news giving encouragement to all the people who have turned out for the overall development of socialism.
