Offensive in Musan Area Gives Confidence in National Liberation to Korean People

Pyongyang, May 23 (KCNA) -- Eighty-six years have passed since President Kim Il Sung organized and commanded the offensive in the Musan area during the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

In the late 1930s, the Japanese imperialists further intensified their offensive against the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and revolutionary organizations and made desperate efforts to blight the hope of the Korean people for national liberation by false propaganda that the revolutionary army was annihilated.

At that time, the President put forward the policy of continuing to strike powerful counterblows at the Japanese imperialist aggressors and advancing to the homeland at the Beidadingzi Meeting held in April 1939 in order to foil the false propaganda of the enemy, thus giving confidence in victory to the people and striking the enemy with fear of death.

The main force of the KPRA crossed the Amnok River and advanced to the homeland on May 18 along the route indicated by the President. Through Chongbong, Konchang and Begae Hill, the main force passed proudly in daylight the Kapsan-Musan guard road, which was specially paved by the enemy, with the tactics of marching a long distance at a step and arrived at Mupho on the bank of the Tuman River.

The President set forth the task of advancing to Taehongdan area at the Mupho Bivouac and made sure that military and political activities were conducted in the areas of Sinsadong and Singaechok. He decided to annihilate the pursuing enemies in the Taehongdan Plain finally.

On May 23, the KPRA main force completely wiped out the enemies that followed by stealth a unit coming back from Singaechok direction after carrying out its task and a reinforcement unit and victoriously concluded the offensive in the Musan area under the wise command of the President.

The offensive in the Musan area was a great one which demonstrated once again that the people struggling to realize the independence of the country and nation from the Juche-oriented standpoint, holding fast to arms, could defeat any formidable enemy.

It is shining brilliantly in the history of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle as it marked a turning point which opened a new upsurge of the whole Korean revolution. -0-
