It can be said that a man with beautiful life from the beginning to the end enjoyed a true life.
Ho Sung Kil living in Kyogu-dong, Central District of Pyongyang, served in the army all his life.
Regarding national defence as the greatest expression of patriotism, he joined the Korean People's Army after graduation from a middle school and underwent more than 40 years of military service. In those days, he participated in an important military conference and won high official commendation.
It is said that he was very sorry to be discharged from the military service a few years ago. But he pledged to remain faithful to the country and people as he did in the days of his military service.
A year later, he read an open letter sent to all the Party members in the capital city of Pyongyang by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un at the typhoon-affected site in South Hamgyong Province.
The letter called for heartily consoling the people in the damaged area and giving sincere support to them so that they could get rid of the disaster as soon as possible, which moved him.
Ho Sung Gil wrote a letter to the Party members of the capital city involved in the damage rehabilitation and sent them aid materials.
He also helped people in difficulty both materially and morally when the country was faced with grave health crisis in 2022.
And he is taking care of two special class disabled soldiers with the kindred feelings. Like this, he is making devoted efforts for the country and people, whether he is recognized or not. He said:
"Of course, I underwent military service. But I cannot live under the state benefits alone in return for it.
I thought it is the duty of people to contribute even a little to the country. In order to do the civic duty, I have been taking care of the special class disabled soldiers and devoted my sincerity to the work for the country and induced my whole family to follow me.
Now my children and grandchildren are calling on those special class disabled soldiers. This is a precious spiritual heritage the former generation should hand down to the new generations, I think.
I will devote myself to the patriotic work until the end of my life and help my family follow the road of patriotism."
Good start of life is important for man. But what is more important is how he concludes his life.
