The spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce of China elaborated on its position on the attempts of the U.S. Department of Commerce to control the use of Chinese AI chips worldwide through the release of guidance note.
He criticized that the abuse of export controls by the U.S. to suppress China violates international law and the basic norms of international relations, seriously undermining the stability of the global semiconductor industry and its supply chain, and depriving other countries of their rights to advanced sci-tech industry including high-tech computer chips and AI.
He went on:
Such a measure of the U.S. is in violation of the legitimate rights and interests of China. Therefore, if any organization or individual engages in enforcing the measure or collaborates with the enforcement, it will be considered a breach of the Chinese laws including the law on anti-foreign sanctions of the PRC, and should be held accountable.
He noted that China will surely take resolute measures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests when the U.S. actually undermines the interests of China, strongly calling for an immediate correction of the wrong approach of the U.S. and elimination of discrimination against China.
