Major complexes in the sector of metallurgical industry are speeding up projects for capacity buildup and readjustment and reinforcement.
The Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex has recently carried out the overhaul of a 100-ton UHP electric arc furnace and improved the operation technique of the energy-saving oxygen-blast furnace, thus opening up a sure prospect for increased production.
The recent overhaul was expected to take over a month, as it required the dismantlement of high-heat equipment and the assembly of various apparatuses.
The complex made vigorous efforts to complete the uphill task within the earliest possible period while maintaining the quality of the project at a high level.
As a result, all the processes of the 100-ton UHP electric arc furnace have returned to normal and the steelmaking time has been considerably reduced.
A progress has been made also in further perfecting the technical operation of the oxygen-blast furnace. The workers pool their efforts to extract even a ton of molten iron in keeping with the updated technical indexes of the furnace.
Meanwhile, the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, in cooperation with the relevant scientific research sector, endeavours to update various parts of the large oxygen plant and improve technical indexes according to the elements of equipment. It also solves technical problems arising in the readjustment and reinforcement projects to improve the quality of fireproof materials and ensure normal operation of furnaces.
The Chollima Steel Complex addresses the problems arising in building an UHP electric arc furnace and an electrode production base while the Posan Iron Works registers high production records every day by increasing the productivity of rotary furnaces in operation to the maximum and starting to operate another one.
