Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held on June 9 to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the West Pyongyang Service Brigade of Engine under the Pyongyang Railway Bureau.

Present there were Kim Tok Hun, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Pak Jong Gun, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the State Planning Commission, Kuk Myong Ho, minister of Railways, officials concerned and officials and employees of the West Pyongyang Service Brigade of Engine.

Kim Tok Hun conveyed a congratulatory letter of the WPK Central Committee to the workers and officials of the West Pyongyang Service Brigade of Engine.

The WPK Central Committee in its congratulatory letter stressed that the West Pyongyang Service Brigade of Engine is a glorious workplace as it has made steady progress under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who personally came to the spot during the arduous postwar period of reconstruction, took warm care of the crewmen, and encouraged them to work miracles for increased transport in the era of the Workers' Party step by step, and that it is the largest locomotive operation unit in the railway transport sector.

The letter said that the revolutionary spirit and feats of the preceding generations who gave birth to the first Chollima workteam in the railway transport sector through the indefatigable struggle, regarding the trust of the Party and the leader as the eternal lifeline, and brought about collective innovations in the van of the May 18 non-breakdown, on-schedule operation and extra-traction movement are being carried forward by the soul and breathing of the transport soldiers of the new generation, adding that this is the greatest pride of the service brigade of engine.

The letter continued:

The employees of the service brigade of engine have kept in good order the locomotives, precious property of the country and the people, to ensure their normal operation and changed its appearance as befitting the unit associated with the leadership exploits of the Party and established its cultured practice in production and life at a high level. The title of model technical innovation unit, "Lathe No.26" Model Machine Prize and the title of the Three-Revolution Red Flag which were awarded to the service brigade of engine are associated with the assiduous and tenacious work attitude of its employees.

The Central Committee of the WPK in its congratulatory letter highly praised the workers and officials of the West Pyongyang Service Brigade of Engine for meeting the country's transport demand and making positive contributions to economic construction and improvement of the people's wellbeing, true to the pledge they made before the Party and the country.
