The light industry sector is putting spurs to improving the quality of goods and developing new products.
The Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill, the Sariwon Textile Mill and the Hamhung Woolen Mill developed various kinds of fabrics including those with good flexibility and draping property, and the Sinuiju Textile Mill replaced the rubber rollers of drawing and spinning frames to improve the quality of products.
The Sariwon Disabled Soldiers' Sewing Thread Factory introduced new technology to produce and supply quality sewing thread to school uniform factories and bag production units.
The Pyongyang Hosiery Factory developed tens of kinds of hosiery including functional hosiery with antibiosis, and the Songyo Knitwear Factory produced T-shirts and underwear made of a combination of silk yarn, Lyocell and high-stretch yarn.
The Pyongyang Essential Oil Factory, the Pyongyang Cosmetics Factory and the Sinuiju Cosmetics Factory have produced well over a hundred kinds of quality products, including essential oil for laundry soap and cream for protecting skin.
The Pyongyang Glasses Factory installed an automatic temperature control device in annealing furnace to improve the quality of parts of glasses, and the Kyongsong Ceramic Factory has introduced a new technology to produce quality goods such as rice bowls, soup bowls and dishes.
The Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site Souvenir Factory invented and introduced a rational method for improving the quality of zippers for the production of school uniforms and established a scientific quality control system to carefully inspect the products.
