In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, people respect those who devote themselves, regarding any hardship as pleasure, if their strength, wisdom and passion contribute to prosperity of the country and happiness of the people.
This is Merited Scientist and Dr. Kim Chang Yu, Section Chief of the Sariwon Kye Ung Sang University of Agriculture.
He developed effective compound bacteria guaranteeing high yields and organic fertilizer production technology on the basis of them.
He travelled the whole country for over 20 years from his 20s to collect samples and separate more than 16,000 strains. Of them, he selected 28 strains to make compound bacteria.
It is his motto that he has nothing more to desire if he can give help to the country, no matter how long and difficult the scientific researches may be.
This is Merited Doctor and Dr. Pak Kyong Hui at the Korea General Red Cross Hospital.
Over the past 30-odd years, she has published several books including rheumatology and more than 100 essays and cured over 66,500 patients of refractory diseases.
She shows her sincerity to the treatment of the patients from the viewpoint that she should be responsible for not only their present but also their future destiny.
She always says health workers should regard it as their greatest honour to devote themselves to the people.
This is Merited Teacher Ri Tong Hun at the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace. He dreamed of becoming a famous painter from his childhood.
Since he was appointed as a teacher of the palace built in 1989, however, he has taught children, hoping that they would realize their dreams.
Many of his group members won grand prizes, gold medals and top prizes at international contests including the international children's art exhibition.
He has a view of life that he will train the rising generations of the country all his life.
