Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- When the residents in the Gaza Strip are on the verge of extinction owing to the moves of the U.S. and Israel, the efforts of the Western countries to recognize the State of Palestine have lately drawn attention.

On July 24, France announced that it would officially recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly to be held in September.

The United Kingdom, Canada and Finland expressed their intention to recognize Palestine as an independent state, though conditionally, and such current continues to expand.

It can be said that this is a grave change in the stand of the Western countries which have pursued a pro-Israel one-sided policy in pursuance of the U.S. in dealing with the issue of Palestine for a long time.

More than 140 UN member states have recognized Palestine as a state in support of the "two-state solution", but the G-7 and most of the EU members have so far turned away their faces from it.

Following the U.S. stand in dealing with the present crisis in the Gaza Strip, the West has given a green light to the Zionists' move to exterminate a nation, talking about Israel's unilateral "right to self-defence".

Then, is the sudden change of these countries' stand the "eruption" of the humanity, mercy and sense of justice of "Western gentlemen"?

It is not so.

It means that the Western countries have been in a difficult situation in which they can not blindly avail themselves of the U.S. and Israel any longer in settling the Middle East affairs.

As Israel persists in its unethical massacre, enforcing its policy on reducing the Gaza Strip to ashes, occupying it permanently and exterminating the Palestinians in disregard of international law and the humanitarian principle, the international community's censure and denunciation for the chieftain and wire-pullers are growing stronger day by day.

In particular, the U.S. has persistently exercised its veto over the matter related with the attainment of the position of Palestine as a full-fledged UN member state and inspired Israel with extinction of nation, making a gangster-like assertion that if Palestine acquires the same rights as member states, it is necessary to stop its expenditure on the UN. Its behavior is enraging the world people.

Witnessing the present wretched situation in the Gaza Strip, in which the whole zone has been reduced into a "hell on the ground" and all the survivors are little short of " walking dead bodies", the international community is censuring not only the U.S. and Israel but also the Western countries which assume the attitude of onlookers to the worst humanitarian crisis, blindly following them.

As well as misgiving that if they blindly follow the U.S. and Israel, they may be in the dock of the international court, the western countries came to be difficult in staying in power owing to the citizens' growing resentment against their government ignoring the unethical crimes in the Gaza Strip. Such situation made the ruling circle of the western countries no longer ignore the Palestinian affairs.

Although it is a sudden mutation caused by the political interests of the Western politicians like chameleon, the change in the pro-U.S. Western camp goes to prove again from a new angle that the international isolation against the U.S. and Israel, which trample down international justice and demands of the times, is growing and coming up to the surface with each passing day and a great breach is being made in the U.S.-led Western alliance.

Branding the western countries' stand as the "hasty decision", the U.S. and Israel assert vehemently that they will remain unchanged, no matter what they say.

The reality clearly shows that the more desperately the U.S. and Israel try to deprive the Palestinian people of their national rights for the building of an independent and sovereign state, the stronger the international efforts will be made to promote the building of the State of Palestine and the more quickly the evil forces will accelerate their ruin of their own accord.

No force on earth can stop the wheel of history toward independence and justice. -0-
