Sinphyong Kumgang, situated in the Ahobiryong Mountains, stretching to the central part of the DPRK, is famous for fantastic rocks and waterfalls and rich local products.
In the old days the place was called Tohwa Valley which means that it is a beautiful valley covered with peach blossoms.
The beauty typical of Sinphyong Kumgang is that of valleys.
The beauty of the valleys is of individual feature, and one of its characteristics is the conspicuous scenery of very narrow valleys.
The valleys of Jinju, Kumgang, Jangsu Peak, Okryudong, Kuryong, Manmulsang, Tohwadong and Chongsokjong constitute the scenes of eight gorges in Sinphyong Kumgang.
The Okryudong Valley spreads a beautiful sight of the valley for the crystal clear water flowing sending up clouds of spray and the steep sides stretching like walls facing each other. It reminds viewers of a fairytale world, giving the impression that water flows through a forest or the whole green forest is floating over the water.
The mysterious scenery of valley of Sinphyong Kumgang is a work of nature. Scenic spots are densely distributed there and for the ever-changing topographies, the scenes change from valley to valley.
