Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- The people of the DPRK significantly celebrated the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation as a great auspicious event to be specially recorded in the history of the country. Many people visited the he Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il lie in state, with boundless reverence for them. Officials, working people, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and school youth and children visited the statues of the great leaders and mosaics depicting the peerlessly great men on Mansu Hill and other parts of the country to lay flower baskets, bouquets and flowers before paying tribute to them. A lot of people with great excitement headed for the Arch of Triumph where 400,000 people raised stormy cheers looking up to the peerlessly great man 80 years ago. They visited the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong, the Hyesan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery and other places and paid tribute to the noble soul of the first generation revolutionaries who pioneered and advanced the revolution, beating the untrodden path of history. At the celebrations and oratorical meetings held by working people's organizations across the country, the performers highly praised the immortal patriotic exploits of the President who founded the immortal Juche Idea and led the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to victory to save the country and its people in misery. Officials, working people, school youth and children in South Hamgyong Province, Nampho Municipality and other parts of the country visited the Yonggwang Revolutionary Battle Site, the Kuksabong Revolutionary Battle Site and other battle sites of the anti-Japanese war. Through the visit, they cherished the strong revolutionary spirit and guerrilla spirit of the fighters as precious ideological and spiritual wealth. Colorful performances were given in Pyongyang and local areas. At the concert of the National Symphony Orchestra held in Moranbong Theatre the performers in their impressive orchestral music sang high praises of the great feats of President Kim Il Sung who brought about the First Liberation Day of the country and opened up a new history of socialist Korea prospering by dint of independence and self-reliance. A circus show was given by actors of the National Acrobatic Troupe at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre and one-act play at the National Theatre. Artistes of the Phibada Opera Troupe and the National Folk Art Troupe gave performances in front of the Pyongyang Grand Theatre and the Korean Folklore Museum. Performances were given by art squads of the central artistic information team, the artistic information team of the Pyongyang Construction Commission, the railway artistic information team and the artistic information teams of working people's organizations in different places of the capital city. Performances and dancing parties were given in South Phyongan, North Hwanghae, Jagang, South Hamgyong, North Hamgyong and Ryanggang provinces, and Rason and Kaesong municipalities. The public catering establishments in Pyongyang and local areas were crowded with guests. Working people and school youth and children enjoyed themselves at the Central Zoo, the Nature Museum, the Munsu Water Park, riding clubs, beach resorts and other cultural and leisure centres across the country.
